I was going to copy a ghost image to my second HDD(SATA) and followed the directions. It restarted my computer and took me into PC DOS 7.1. There are 2 selections: 1. Run Norton Ghost Dos Operation 2. Return to Windows without running Norton Ghost. I clicked 1 and it went to the Ghost screen and I guess it froze.
It was just an hour glass. So I Ctrl,Alt,DEL and it restarted. Well it went back to the same screen so I then clicked 2 and its doesnt do anything. Just a blinking '_'.
It just keeps looping There are also 2 more options: F5=Bypass Startup files F8=Confirm each line of CONFIG.EXE and AUTOEXEC.BAT I also have the Second HDD unpluged now and the DVD drive. WHAT IS WRONG HERE?!? Check to see what is actually there before making assumptions and messing it up. Use Parted Magic and boot up to view the drive and see exactly what is on it.
It can be used for all your partitioning needs and works much better than Partition Magic ever did. Get rid of Partition Magic unless you have full system backups for when it ruins them. If you prefer a bootable USB key, download and run. Choose the Parted Magic distro, and it will download it and automatically create a bootable USB key. This CD (or key) contains many useful tools. You can partition, recover files, recover lost partitions, make disk images (by several different methods), transfer files between media, scan for viruses (It can serve as an Alternative Trusted Platform for search and elimination of rootkits and bootkits), examine and benchmark hardware, access the internet, and much more. In step 2, you either choose the downloaded iso file of Parted Magic, if you already downloaded it, or you choose it from the list so that the program can download it.
Step 3 is about persistence, whether the program acts like a normal operating system and saves changes between sessions. Since Parted Magic is normally a 'read-only' OS, it really doesn't matter what you put in 3 since you most likely will not make any changes to the system, anyway. Check the box to have it format in FAT32. Install the VirtualBox only if you want. That would allow you to boot and run the USB stick inside Windows, but you can't use it that way to partition, anyway, so make it only if you want to boot it up in Windows to see what it looks like (or to actually partition any drive other than the one your system is running from - you could use it to partition an external drive from Windows, for example). The portable VirtualBox, once on the USB stick, can be used to boot other virtual machines, too, and not just the one you installed to the USB stick, so it can be very handy if you use those.
It can be copied from the stick to run VM's on your Windows system, too, even without the USB (but it does not work as well as a fully installed version).

After the Symantec acquisition, a few functions (such as translation into other languages) were moved elsewhere, but the main development remained in Auckland until October 2009 at which time much was moved to India. [ ] Technologies developed by 20/20 Software were integrated into Ghost after their acquisition by Symantec in April 2000. Ghost 3.1 [ ] The first versions of Ghost supported only the cloning of entire disks. However, version 3.1, released in 1997 supports cloning individual.
Ghost could clone a disk or partition to another disk or partition or to an image file. Ghost allows for writing a clone or image to a second disk in the same machine, another machine linked by a parallel or network cable, a network drive, or to a tape drive. Ghost 4.0 and 4.1 [ ] Version 4.0 of Ghost added technology, following the lead of a competitor,. Multicasting supports sending a single image simultaneously to other machines without putting greater stress on the network than by sending an image to a single machine.
